Two days ago I crossed the Pyrenees and left Spain for France. While there was no official welcome sign to the country, I knew I’d made it when I saw an advertisement for “fromage.” I got my final pilgrim’s stamp in St Jean Pied de Port, spent yesterday waiting out the rain and learning some French, and begin the short journey today in the direction of Bordeaux. I’ll be attending a three week retreat at the mindfulness center the Plum Village, led by Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh. I’m very excited for the opportunity, and will not have access to internet throughout. On the other side comes the sweet ride along the canal du Garonne and the canal du midi to the coast.

And for all the lingual progress I started on yesterday, seems I haven’t learned the words for bath soap and lotion yet… Fun times…
